Why It Matters
Electrical compliance isn’t just paperwork – it’s safety.
I stress safety and compliance because I genuinely care about the homes I work in and the families who live in them. Electricity is unforgiving. When systems aren’t compliant with AS/NZS 3000:2018 (The Wiring Rules), the risks are real – fire, electric shock, appliance failure, and serious property damage.
Beyond safety, there are financial consequences most homeowners don’t realise:
- Insurance policies can be voided if an electrical system is found to be non-compliant.
- Manufacturer warranties can be rejected if appliances are connected to outdated or non-compliant wiring or circuit protection.
And I see it far too often.
Brand-new kitchens fitted with premium appliances –
Miele ovens,
Smeg induction cooktops –
…installed onto old switchboards with outdated circuit breakers and no compliant RCD protection.
When something goes wrong, manufacturers are within their rights to deny warranty claims if the installation doesn’t meet Australian standards. That can turn a premium appliance into a very expensive mistake.
Compliance Protects
- Your family’s safety
- Your home
- Your insurance coverage
- Your appliance warranties
- Your long-term investment
Upgrading appliances without upgrading protection is like putting a high-performance engine into a car with no brakes.
If we’re doing the job, we do it properly – compliant, safe, and built to current standards.
No shortcuts. No “she’ll be right.”
Sparky Steve – Because safety isn’t optional.
